This herb is the root of Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. Mongholicus (Bge. ) Hsiao or Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch. ) Bge (family Leguminosae). It is produced mainly in Shanxi, Gansu, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. It is dug in spring or autumn, sliced, dried in the sun.
